Its not the 80's anymore - The Transition

numbers1For me the tech boom of the 90's wasn't a boom as much as it was a welcome transition. Being hands in in everything I'm involved with means getting to the root level of how something works, and then try and make it work better. I became proficient in graphics, 3D modeling and animation by 1996. It wasn't enough to adopt the computer graphics era, I needed to build my own PC's - my inner geek was born.

Fast Forward - New Chapter 1999

After 15 years at ZC&R, I took stock in myself and my skills/abilities. I produced a business model I could market and started to business as Digital Works in September of 1999. I literally went door to door - sometimes walking other times driving to local businesses in the area. Within one month I had clients in Belgium, Canada and here in the South Bay (SoCal). By Feb 2000 I had a long running contract with an online entertainment start up.

To date I've produced work for Medical, Industrial, and Entertainment companies. I've produced Cg animation used for education, TV commercials to content designed for the mobile industry.

Family

One of five children. We all live in Southern California. With a few adjustments in locations over the past 20 years, we are all just minutes drive from one another.

My parents, Celso and Elisa Cabrera the anchor and cornerstones of the family. Everything distilled through them and learned by us makes for an interesting mix.

My dad Family Holidays was with us long enough for he and my mom to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary together. He past away on October 19, 2008.

Hobbies and Personal Projects

What is it when your free time inhabits areas of your profession? Some might say one is always working, but I would have to disagree,

The good side is that you are always on top of your skill sets and hopefully expanding ones knowledge. It doesn't get old and so long as there are bursts of creative energy that help fuel the process.

revandthrottleIf you didn't know - I was a Sci-Fi nut as a kid. So the whole CG/Graphics/Animation side lent itself to producing personal projects. It's been a while but the preliminary base site for the Revandthrottle.com project is up. The various theories, stories and characters are really maturing and coming into play now. Thanks to those who have been great sounding boards to a multitude of diverse side

My plan to have Digital Works be a resource download site has changed. For the time being it will remain my service / portfolio site. Of course there is this site which needs much more work.
